Can a budding female pilot soar through the glass ceiling…?

Hertfordshire, 1912

After a nomadic childhood, life changes for Ayda De Corsi as she settles at Lord Bound’s Hertfordshire estate. There she finds a friend in his star gazing younger son, Adam, but when a collection of flying machines is secretly stored on the estate, Ayda is taught to fly and quickly discovers her passion.

When war breaks out, Adam joins the RFC, and Ayda heads to London on the promise of a secret civilian role as Britain’s only female dispatch pilot. But in this mad, misogynistic world, not everyone is happy, and someone is going to great lengths to see her fail. Life for Ayda will change again when she encounters the enigmatic but flawed ace, Major Rick Randal, as he prepares his elite Squadron for combat.

For across the Channel, a brutal war is unfolding. Aces are falling fast as ‘Bloody April’ decimates the RFC.

In this war to end all wars, can they turn things around?

The story of war in the air is told through the eyes of this remarkable aviatrix who becomes the inspiration for the next generation of female flyers.

Can Ayda and Adam survive the war? Will Ayda manage to make her mark?

Or are the odds stacked against this daring aviatrix…?

Praise for this book

A classic novel

From a time when women were not able to be accepted in the world of men. A truly inspiring story and quite unexpected as I found it pretty much by accident. I commend it to anyone who is looking for a refreshing look at a sad time in our history.

Who knew

It is nice when a person you like does something that is different and breaks the mold of what a young lady ought to be doing for herself. In1916 a young lady does not fly!!
